Introducing: Product Spotlight

Welcome to the first edition of KMA Jewelry's Product Spotlight! Every other week, we plan to showcase one of KMA Jewelry's one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry, providing a deeper look at the materials, design and crafting process, and the properties of the stones that make up the piece. Today, we're spotlighting the Tiger's Eye Woven Bracelet. Enjoy!

This week's product spotlight is my fabulous Tiger's Eye Woven Bracelet. Many of us are familiar with a tiger's eye. It's often the first gemstone collected in an accumulation of jewelry, as it’s lovely and affordable. Often, the first detail we notice about tiger’s eye is the delightful optical illusions inherent in this stone. The rich brown and caramel tones dancing in the light actually have a name: chatoyancy (from "eye of the cat" in French). Chatoyancy describes the iridescent-like optics that occur when the light is reflected off the fibrous layers inside the stone.

Named after the stealthy felines whose courage and patience make them a most revered creature, tiger's eye has been used for eons for its metaphysical and crystal healing properties. Dating back to Ancient Roman times, it was worn as an amulet to protect against evil forces; they believed the stone’s power lay in the optical illusion chatoyancy, calling it the "all-seeing eye". In Egypt, it was believed to provide the protection of Ra, the sun god, and Geb, the god of growing land. It’s connection to the earth make tiger’s eye particularly practical, as it creates a partnership with the wearer and enhances their own attributes to survive. Focus, courage, stealth, and patience are commonly enhanced when wearing tiger’s eye.

When used as healing crystals, its use corresponds to the chakras of the spleen (solar plexus) and root (1st and 3rd chakras.)  According to healers, wearing it as a bracelet, or close to the 1st and 3rd chakras, is recommended to charge the aura more effectively. Tiger’s eye is known to enhance strength and resolve, discipline and courage. Good fortune and prosperity come to wearers of tiger’s eye, as it helps to enhance focus and concentration, repel negative energy, and enhance feelings of warmth and positivity. Wear with a good heart, and a connection to the earth, and may it bring you all these attributes and more.

All my woven bracelets are woven on linen cord using silk thread. This makes the bracelet durable and gives them fluidity and a lovely drape. This bracelet is not a stiff cuff, but rather a free-flowing, moveable piece that feels nothing short of luxurious. The bracelet also contains mahogany obsidian and brass to complement the tiger's eye.
